Cares is a company that sells multi-million dollar inventory solutions to hospitals. Normally when an individual needs non-emergency medical treatment, a hospital employee simply retrieves the necessary products needed to aid the patient. However, this process is seldom documented which causes inventory to become a concern. If employees take products out of inventory and don't document the event, then the hospital does not have an accurate inventory of supplies.
An inventory system was designed to combat this potentially dangerous problem.
CARES provides a computer system that automatically deducts items taken from inventory, allowing the hospital to see their current supply status with zero delays. Over time this system will cut administrative costs of the hospital and prevent dangerous shortages which can result in delayed care.
The design solution focuses on a commonly associated hospital icon: The cross. The cross incorporates itself into the typography effectively communicating how the inventory system integrates into the hospital. Two arrows point in opposite directions to suggest the action of give and take (take inventory, replace inventory). The type is visually technical and machine-like, while also soft and personable by being set in lowercase and containing soft corners.
